Track, Field And Your Inner Oregonian

Did you ever go to a track meet? I’m not suggesting it or anything. They used to call what is now termed track & field, athletics and a day at a meet, watching people generally get out of breath and toss around weighted objects isn’t for everyone. I’ve been to high school meets (you too probably) and professional indoor meets and pretty epic dual meets between two collegiate teams, but I was not prepared for the alien life forms I encountered at a meet one day not so very long ago.

Delivering The Milk?

How do they allow for personal milk-making at your place of employment? Where I work they have a room. It used to be called the “Lactation Room” (there was a sign), but now it’s called the “Mother’s Room” (there’s a new sign). I didn’t want to know what went on in there before and now I’m just confused. I wish there was a non-milk-producing room where I could go to figure it all out but, from what I can tell, only girls get their own special room.

Taking The Gloves Off

Of course, we can’t … Take the gloves off that is. Like so much of modern life, to do so, to put the genie back in the bottle, is impossible because we can never give back a piece of human comfort or knowledge or technology once we’ve seen it and had it and gotten used to it. So when someone gave us the smartphone that was the end of the in-person conversation, when someone perfects the driverless car we will have even more people asleep at the wheel and now that every football player (except kickers and quarterbacks) wears gloves, we shall never see the naked hand in the NFL again.
