It looks like fewer people are watching the NFL this season. Ratings are down universally and, especially in local markets, that ratings drop is significant. For example, according to MMQB.com, the ratings for Jets games are down locally by almost forty percent. Does this mean that football is losing its all-powerful grip on America’s sports fans? Is the era of total world domination by the NFL over?
NFL Circus Tent
Last night I saw a player go into the “injury tent.” Maybe it was an injury “pod” or an injury “compartment” or a medical evaluation chamber or a mobile injury assessment unit, or maybe it was an iTent. (I know that soon, very soon, some company will be branding that tent.) Anyway, the NFL wants its players to tear their ACLs and labrums in private. I get it, during the course of a game things can get pretty gnarly. I don’t want to see people in pain so, yeah, sure, put these guys in the let’s-take-a-closer-look tent.
I Want My Old “Fantasies” Back
It used to be that fantasies we’re about dreams that could never come true, now the word “fantasy” is just short for “fantasy football,” the nightmare that won’t go away. It would be melodramatic to say that fantasy football is ruining my life, but it’s for sure ruining my football life.
